An Aggression Forecast

Today I had a hard taste of reality to start the new year off, forecasting a perverse penetration of intolerance, violence, and aggressiveness from our present day world zeitgeist, for us Canucks…
I had just stepped out of my town home to walk my dog, when arriving to the neighbourhood park we crossed path with a guy and his leashed dog -as it should-, but mine was not -as I do-. Like always in these cases, I called Gastón to my side and commanded him to heel. We hadn’t met these guys before, so Gastón whose neighbourliness is well known decided to disobey a little and moved closer to say hi. In an instant, the dog launched violently towards him, with all teeth out, and growling wildly. The guy had to pull back on the leash hard, and although the dog was bigger than Gastón, the guy was bigger than me, so the dog was stopped in his tracks, Gastón had immediately moved out of the way, and we were all safe.
At that moment, it was heard, like an echo: “Sorry ‘bout that”, “sorry ’bout that”, since we both said it almost simultaneously, and without even looking at each other -the shame and annoyance were so deep-, we kept walking …
It was so bad, we didn’t even wish each other a happy new year… (I’m sorry ‘bout that).
